Questions & Answers
For guests, for hosts, and about pricing
For guests
How do I send the couple a cash gift?
Open the gift registry link they sent you and look for Cash Gifts. Use their Send a gift button (for example Monzo or PayPal), or copy their bank details into your own banking app and send a transfer.
Can I set up a standing order?
Yes. Use the bank details on the registry and set it up in your own banking app, as you would for anyone else. You control it there and can stop it whenever you like.
Does OurEventsGrid take a cut, or see my payment?
No. Your money goes straight from your bank (or Monzo, PayPal and so on) to the couple. It never passes through OurEventsGrid, we don't charge a fee on it, and we never see your card or bank details.
Is it safe to pay the bank details I see?
The couple enter them themselves, and they're only shown on the private registry link they shared with you. If something looks different from what you expected, check with the couple before you send money. That's good advice for any bank transfer.
I've booked a room. How do I pay for it?
Your room booking page shows how to pay the hosts directly. Use your name as the reference. The hosts mark your booking as paid once the money arrives.
Do I need an account to RSVP or reserve a gift?
No. RSVP pages, the gift registry and the event website all work from the links the hosts send you, with no sign-up.
For hosts
How do guests give us money?
Go to Savings Pots and open How guests can give you money. Add a payment link (like https://monzo.me/yourname or https://paypal.me/yourname), your bank details, or both, plus a short message. Guests see them in the Cash Gifts section of your gift registry.
Who can see our bank details?
Only people with your private gift registry link (and room-booking links). They're never shown on your public event website. That page only shows your payment link, if you add one, so your account number doesn't end up somewhere search engines can find it.
Why can't guests pay by card inside OurEventsGrid?
Taking money on someone else's behalf and passing it on is a regulated financial service in the UK. Rather than hold your money in the middle, we let guests pay you directly. It's simpler and safer, and nobody takes a fee off your gifts.
How do the savings pots fill up?
When money arrives in your account, add it to a pot with + Add Saving: who it was from, how much and when. Your totals and the "still needed" figure update straight away.
Can guests see how much we've saved?
Only for pots you switch to Show to guests. Those show a progress bar (for example "£500 of £2,000") on your registry and event website. Everything else stays private, and pots are hidden until you switch them on.
How do room payments work?
Guests see your payment details on their booking page and pay you directly. When the money arrives, go to Accommodation → Room Bookings and press Mark paid. That also takes the room out of what's still available.
Can other people see our guest list or budget?
No. Your event is only visible to your own household when signed in. Family see what you choose to share through Share with Family, and guests only see the pages you send them.
Pricing & your account
What does OurEventsGrid cost?
30 days free, with no card needed. After that it's £2.99 a month or £29.99 a year ($3.99 / $39.99 in the US). Guests never pay anything to use your pages.
If I subscribe during my free trial, do I lose the rest of it?
No. Your first payment waits until the trial ends.
How do I cancel?
Any time, from the pricing page (Manage subscription) or in OurFamilyGrid under Account → Payments. You keep access until the end of the time you've paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of your first payment, in full. Just email hello@ourfamilygrid.com. Full details are in the add-on terms.
What happens to our plans if the subscription ends?
Nothing is deleted. Your guest list, budget, savings and everything else stay there, ready for when you subscribe again. Guests' RSVP and registry links keep working.
Why do I sign in with OurFamilyGrid?
OurEventsGrid is a sister app to OurFamilyGrid, run by the same person, so one account works for both. How the shared login works.
I live in the EU. Can I subscribe?
Not yet, sorry. A small UK business selling online services to people in the EU has to register for VAT there from the very first sale. If you'd like it, email hello@ourfamilygrid.com. If enough people ask, we'll set it up.
